History

Central West Libraries is a regional library service located on the Central Tablelands and Western Slopes of New South Wales. Established in 1958 the Library encompasses the Local Government areas of Orange, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra and Forbes. There are branches at Blayney, Canowindra, Cowra, Forbes, Manildra, Molong and Orange. The Library’s support and administrative units are located in the Orange City Library building.

The State archives is for anyone wanting to explore the official archives of the State of New South Wales. Here you'll find catalogues, guides, indexes and other tools for searching the archives, online galleries and services, information about events and activities, and much more.

Holding on to our history – that’s what the National Archives of Australia does. We care for valuable Commonwealth government records and make them available for present and future generations to use. Our recordkeeping standards help government to account to the public, ensuring that evidence is available to support people’s rights and entitlements and that future generations will have a meaningful record of the past.

The modern museum is the home of fossils which date back 360 million years. The original slabs, audio display, visual display, the interactive discovery den and gift shop make for an interesting visit. Volunteers will assist you with guided tours. Groups welcome.

The Museum is a large complex set in spacious grounds. It's historic buildings house entensive collections of pioneering memorabilia, early farm machinery and a quaint craft cottage.
